What are Runes?
The origin of runes is understood to come from ancient Nordic culture (Germanic, Celtic, Viking) in the form of an alphabet. A set of runes comprises of 24 alphabetic symbols and one blank, engraved or carved on small shapes of stone and fruit bearing wood. The blank rune is regarded as Odin, named after the god Odin who is renowned as the inventor of the runes. The word ‘rune’ is considered to originate from the Indo-European word “ru” meaning “secret thing” and ancient Germanic word “runa” meaning “whisper”. Tacitus, the Roman historian, recorded that the priests of Odin used the runes as an oracle.
What is an Oracle?
An Oracle is regarded as an agent for prophetic opinion or precognition of the future, inspired by the gods. Oracles are recorded in many ancient cultures including Tibetan Buddhism, Hinduism, Hawaiian, Celtic, Chinese, Aztec, Mayan, Egyptian and Greek. In Norse mythology, the Runes are considered to be an ancient oracle which can assist you in making appropriate decisions and support your personal journey throughout your life. An Oracle is perceived as a form of divination.
